My window is foggy between the panes. Can it be cleaned?
No. The fog is inside the sealed unit, where nothing can reach it. It means the seal has failed and moist air is getting in between the panes. The unit has stopped doing its job.
Can hail damage a window without breaking it?
Yes, and that's the usual way it happens here. The impact cracks the seal rather than the glass. Everything looks fine from the driveway, and the fogging turns up later.
The storm was months ago and the window has only just gone cloudy. Is it too late?
Not necessarily, and it's worth raising with your insurer. Delayed fogging is a known consequence of hail, so the timing on its own isn't the obstacle people assume. How storm damage gets documented matters more than how long ago it happened.
One room is always cold. Is it the windows?
Often, but not always. Failed units will do it. So will single glazing left from an earlier era, or simply more glass in one room. So will things that have nothing to do with windows. That's why we check the whole outside of that room.
Do I need a permit to replace windows in Aurora?
It depends on the scope and the address. We confirm it before anything is ordered, and we handle whatever it turns out to need. You don't chase any of it.
Does my HOA get a say in what the windows look like?
If the look is changing, usually yes. It's a separate question from anything the city wants, and the two run on their own tracks. Starting it early keeps it from holding anything up.
