Are gutter guards worth it on my house?
It depends on what's above the gutter. On the newer neighborhoods there's very little falling in yet, so guards do less than people expect. Under the older trees nearer the middle of town it's a different answer, and often a yes. Either way, we fit guards as part of a new system going on. We don't add them to your existing run later, so it's worth deciding at the measure.
Hail dented my gutters. Does that mean the roof is damaged too?
Often, yes. Hail that had enough behind it to dent metal at eye level usually did something to the shingles above. It's worth having the roof checked too, in the same visit, while there's a ladder against the house.
Can I run my downspout into a rain barrel?
Yes, with limits. Colorado allows home rainwater collection from a small number of barrels. The water has to be used outdoors on the same property. If you want one, tell us early and we'll put a downspout where the barrel is going.
Where does the water go once it leaves the downspout?
Away from the foundation, and not onto a walkway or into a neighbor's yard. Extensions or a buried run handle that. On a Brighton lot the tight side yard between houses is usually where it needs the most thought.
What is behind my gutters if they have been leaking for years?
Usually a soft board, sometimes nothing at all. Water running over the back edge soaks the board the gutter hangs on. We look before we hang the new system and tell you then, not after everything is up.
Do I need gutters at all if my yard drains well?
The yard isn't the problem. The foundation is. Water coming off a roof lands in a narrow strip right against the house. That's the last place you want it soaking in. Gutters move that water out to where the yard can do its job.
