The stain on my ceiling is nowhere near anything on the roof. Why?
Because water travels before it drops. It gets in at one point and runs along the deck or a beam. Then it drops wherever it finds a gap. That's why repairs that start at the stain so often fail. The only way to settle it is to trace the path from above.
My building is only about fifteen years old. Should the roof be leaking already?
The roof probably isn't the problem. On newer Aurora stock the leak usually traces to something added after the roof went on. An exhaust fan, a sign fixing, conduit for a fit-out. Those seals age faster than the roof around them, and fixing one is a small job.
Can you repair a roof somebody else put on?
Yes, and a good share of what we fix is another company's work. It doesn't change the way we trace it. We'll ask what you know about the roof's history before touching anything.
Will the patch match the rest of my roof?
No, and nobody's will. New material against weathered material always shows. What matters is that the join is sound and the water stops. On a flat roof, nobody at street level sees it anyway.
