Why a Roofer Looks at Your Walls
The wall and the roof edge above it are one water management system. Water that gets past the top of a wall doesn't care which trade owns the repair. We look at every elevation, because hail is directional and a single wall inspection produces a claim that misses damage. We check the roof, the gutters, the windows and the screens on the same visit too. They were all hit by the same storm, and they're the evidence for each other. We keep a record of the work, too. Walls we've finished are photographed and on the site. That tells you more about a color match than any description of one.
Everyone who steps onto your property has been background checked. It's a standing policy, not something we arrange case by case. We also carry general liability and workers compensation insurance, so the risk of the work sits with us, not you. A few of our salespeople speak Spanish. What We Look At on Every Wall
People call about the wall they can see from the driveway. Hail doesn't work that way, and neither does an honest inspection.
- We check all four elevations and the roof on the same visit, since the same storm reached the roof from a worse angle, and tell you whether it looks like a claim or an out-of-pocket job before asking for anything. The inspection and the estimate are both free.
- Hail on siding is cracks, punctures, holes, dents, chips and gouges, usually on one or two walls rather than all four, low down and at the board joints. That white residue on your hand is the finish oxidizing with age, not storm damage, and it won't support a claim.
- Siding damaged in the same storm as the roof is usually handled on one deductible, not one per surface. Deductibles here are often a share of the insured value rather than a flat amount, and what gets argued is whether the damage is cosmetic or functional.
- When only one wall is damaged, the color often doesn't exist anymore. Even where the product is still made, years of sun mean new and old boards won't match, so check what your policy says about repairs of "like kind and quality" before that conversation happens. Plenty of older houses here are still on original siding from a run that's long out of production.

What Sits Behind the Siding
Siding is the visible layer of a system that keeps water out of a wall, and the layer that does that job sits behind it. That's why a bad siding job fails invisibly for years.
- A water-resistive barrier and flashing around every window and door send water back out of the wall instead of into it. Get the layering wrong and water goes inward, and that failure is invisible from the outside.
- Nobody can see the sheathing, framing or insulation until the wall is open. Rot at window and door openings is the most common find and the most common reason a scope changes partway through; we replace whatever won't hold a fastener or shed water, and you hear about it before it's done.
- Materials behave differently here in three ways: how they take an impact without cracking, denting or chipping; how long they hold a finish facing full afternoon sun; and how much they move when the temperature swings twenty degrees in a day.

Siding Frequently Asked Questions
Will insurance replace all my siding if only one side is damaged?
It depends on your policy and on whether matching material can be found. Read what your policy says about like kind and quality, and expect it to be discussed. It's the most common source of disagreement on a siding claim, and going in aware of it puts you in a better position.
Do I need my HOA to approve the material or the color?
Some neighborhoods do, and it's a separate step from anything a contractor does. Sort it out before anything gets ordered. That's the point where projects stall.
Should I paint instead?
If the material underneath is sound, yes, and it's the cheaper answer. If it has failed, paint fails again, usually inside a season or two. The test isn't how the wall looks. It's whether the material is still doing its job.
How many days will the work take?
Weather here drives the schedule more than the size of the house does, and we'll talk that through once we've seen the walls.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry general liability and workers compensation insurance. A siding job means ladders, tools and people around your property. That risk belongs with us, not with you.
Can siding be financed?
Yes, through Hearth. That matters most when a claim covers part of a scope and not all of it.
