On a roof with almost no other details, the seams are where it eventually gives up. A system that covers your area in fewer joins is worth something real.
The second thing is heat. A big deck taking full sun all day is one problem. A small roof sitting in the shadow of taller buildings is another. That's the building asking, not a rule.
Down on the smaller roofs the surface matters less than what happens where it stops. The turn up at the edge, the joint against the neighboring wall, the outlet that has to take everything the roof collects. Those are what leak, and no membrane fixes a bad detail.

The Two Kinds of Brighton Roof
