What Backs a Thornton Roof
We're veteran owned, and we carry general liability and workers compensation insurance. There's about twenty years of hands-on roofing experience in our work. The South End and the North End
Thornton was farmland until the early nineteen fifties. A developer bought a few hundred acres off Washington Street and laid out a town. It's been building north ever since. What you get is one city stacked out of about six suburbs. Which one you live in changes what a roofing job here involves.
The original city, north of 88th Avenue. Brick ranch houses on curving streets, built in the fifties and early sixties. One plan, rather than grown by accident. These roofs are on their second or third covering, and the trees over them are fully grown. Washington Street is where the city started, and Thornton Parkway runs through this end.
The middle of the city. The eighties and nineties rings, mostly on a first or second replacement now, with landscaping somewhere between the two extremes. Colorado Boulevard runs through it, past Carpenter Park, with the Eastlake side around 124th and Riverdale Road out on the quieter eastern edge.
The north end, out along 136th and 144th. This part of the city is still being built. Most are coming off a builder's first roof. Whole streets reach that point within a year or two of each other. Holly Street at 136th is out by Trail Winds, and 144th runs toward Quebec and the E-470 edge, with the newest filings up toward 150th.
Eastlake is the exception. It's an old railway village with a small lot main street grid, annexed into Thornton decades after it was built. It looks nothing like the rest of the city.
The avenues do the work here. Know whether a house sits south or north of 120th and you know most of what matters about its roof.
